Adenoidectomy is one of the most common pediatric surgeries. The adenoid is located in the nasopharynx, above and behind the palate. Indications for adenoidectomy include pediatric nasal airway obstruction, obstructive breathing and sleep apnea, chronic mouth breathing and recurrent or persistent otitis media in selected children.
Surgical models and phantoms enjoy wide use in medical training. Time spent using phantoms leads to improved confidence and higher success rates.
Adeno-Tommy is designed for training the basic manual skills needed for adenoidectomy. It is suitable for learning the use of instruments in the nasopharynx, visualized by a mirror or endoscope. In addition to adenoidectomy, the trainees learn the importance of the ergonomic working conditions and the stability of the arms.
